I was nineteen the first time the cards told me something I did not want to hear.
I learned in a kitchen in Newark — a deck, a candle, a kettle, an aunt who would not let me leave the table until I had read for her honestly. She taught me that the gift is half listening, half courage. I have spent every Monday through Saturday since trying to live up to her instructions.
The shelves you see here hold the tools — crystal spheres for each chakra, the rider-waite deck, palmistry book, singing bowls, sage, and a small Egyptian pharaoh my mother brought me from Cairo, for luck.
